Carolina Beach Amusement Park Rides Approved!

As reported in the Island Gazette, the Carolina Beach Planning Commission unanimously approved a request for a conditional use permit to install and operate amusement rides in currently vacant lots near the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach, NC. The rides will be installed and managed by Megerle’s Magic and Hildebrand Rides of Gibsonton, Florida who have over 35 years of experience in the amusement industry.

The park rides will be installed on a seasonal basis and will operate Sunday through Thursday from 10:00 am until 11:00 pm and will stay open until midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The amusement rides, including mechanical rides, kid's rides, a fun house, and food stands, should be operating by May 2009.

We are excited about the potential vitality this project will bring to Pleasure Island in general, and to the Boardwalk area of Carolina Beach in particular. Please leave a comment and let us know how you feel about this project. We also invite you comment on the Pleasure Island Facebook Page.

the rides are closed on Sunay July 19th at 1pm. No sign, no notice. The schedule seems to keep changing. OUr 8 year old granddaughter is very dissappointed since we have tried three separate times to ride the rides. Schedule changes and one time for inclement weather. Weather is one thing, but continuous schedule changes are problematic. People are getting frustrated with the changes and the prices. Hildebrand needs to make a schedule and stick to it!
