Spotlight on Business: CanvasGicleePrinting.com
CanvasGicléePrinting.com opened two months ago in the Federal Point Shopping Center in Carolina Beach. The web based printing service offers quality giclée prints to photographers and artists – professional or amateur. Owner Joshua McClure has over 25 years of experience as a printer and photographer. His local photography can be found in many homes and businesses around the area.
One of the first things people want to know is what is a giclée and how is it pronounced. Giclée (zhee-clay) is a term derived from a French word meaning to “squirt or spray” and has come to mean any high
resolution ink-jet print produced from a computer generated file. At CanvasGicléePrinting.com digital
images such as photographs are reproduced on canvas or fine art paper resulting in a giclée print. While most people choose canvas giclée prints which are gallery wrapped and ready to hang on the wall, some prefer paper giclées which are suitable for matting and framing.
The CanvasGicléePrinting.com website is easy to use with a pricing calculator which gives customers an immediate cost for a print and a user-friendly art uploader. Customers just follow the prompts and, if
needed, help is just a phone call away. Josh takes a great deal of pride in his attention to detail and
excellent customer service.
Production Manager Mike Champlin, with years of experience as a master craftsman, is the friendly face responsible for stretching the canvas giclées and keeping the factory running from 9 AM to 5 PM Monday – Friday. Orders may be placed using the website 24 hours a day.
While CanvasGicéePrinting.com draws customers from all over the country, they have been pleasantly
surprised by the amount of local business they are attracting. They are excited and proud to be a part of the Pleasure Island business community. Let CanvasGicléePrinting.com print your photos on canvas!

Spotlight on Business: Carolina Jeep Rentals
Carolina Beach natives Joey and Lauren Conn opened Carolina Jeep Rentals May of 2011 and had a very successful first year.
Joey & Lauren, Jeep owners and enthusiasts, came up with the idea of renting Jeeps three years ago when they first visited Freeman Park. The idea came instantly to them after watching cars with no 4x4 turn around at the gate and seeing vehicles getting stuck in the sand. They chose to rent Jeeps for obvious reasons – their 4x4 capabilities are unmatched, they are easily customized and driving with the top and doors off is pretty cool too!
Carolina Jeep Rentals wants everyone who visits Pleasure Island and surrounding areas to experience the thrill of beach driving and the convenience of letting the Jeep do all the work hauling your beach gear to your own piece of paradise!
Carolina Jeep Rentals rents 4x4 Jeeps for beach driving anywhere from 2 hours to 5 days. All Jeep rentals include yearly passes to Freeman Park in Carolina Beach and Fort Fisher SRA in Kure Beach for unlimited beach driving and a cooler filled with ice! They also have basic camping gear for camping at Freeman Park, surf fishing rods & tackle, and fire pits with fire wood to accompany your rental! These items are FREE with any 24 hour or longer rental! Their 2012 plans include moving into a bigger space on the other side of the building from their current location, adding more Jeeps to their fleet, and adding soft-top surfboards to
accompany rentals.

Plan Your 2012 Beach Vacation at Carolina Beach or Kure Beach
Whether you're digging out from under a few inches of snow or enjoying an unseasonably warm winter, it's hard not to dream about relaxing or playing on beautiful North Carolina beaches on a balmy summer day. Now is the perfect time to plan your summer beach vacation on Pleasure Island!
There is no shortage of ways to spend an enjoyable weekend, week, or longer visit to our fun and picturesque island. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Accommodations
Choose from an ocean front room at the Carolina Beach Courtyard Marriott, a condo rental just steps from the beach, or rent a house or duplex with room for the whole family. There is even camping available in the Carolina Beach State Park or on the North End at Freeman Park.
Choose from an ocean front room at the Carolina Beach Courtyard Marriott, a condo rental just steps from the beach, or rent a house or duplex with room for the whole family. There is even camping available in the Carolina Beach State Park or on the North End at Freeman Park.
There are lots of great restaurants to choose from on Pleasure Island. You can't leave without trying a Britt's Donut or two (or three.) Other local favorites include Havana's, The Surf House, Harbor Masters, Michael's Seafood (don't miss their champion seafood chowder), and Uncle Vinny's. (But this is just the start - there are far too many great places to mention them all here!)
If you'd like to cook at your home away from home during your stay stock up on fresh produce, locally made goodies, and a great selection of wine and beer at The Veggie Wagon. Skip the trip to the grocery store and have Coastline Shoppers deliver the rest of the staples you'll need for your vacation.
If you'd like a little live music with your dinner, or your after dinner drink, check out Ocean Grill & Tiki Bar (the bands play on a pier right at the edge of the ocean!), Seawitch Cafe & Tiki Bar, Tangerine Caribbean Grill, and The Last Resort (North Carolina's smallest bar...but they can make a little room for you!)
Here's where the options get just about limitless. Head to the beach to walk on the sand, swim, surf, look for shells, stand up paddleboard, or just relax. Visit popular attractions such as the NC Aquarium at Fort Fisher or the Fort Fisher Historic Site (an important piece of Civil War and WWII history.) Enjoy a round of golf at one of several fine courses just minutes from the island. Shop for gifts or a little something for yourself at the unique shops and boutiques on Pleasure Island. Go fishing from one of the piers, in the surf, or on a charter boat.
Whatever you choose to do you're sure to have a beach vacation to remember on Pleasure Island! For help planning your trip give us a call at the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce at 910-458-8434.
