This value-added benefit is not available to the general public. It will not only enhance your membership as a consumer, but also offer promotional / advertising opportunities for participating businesses.

All Chamber members receive a membership card entitling them to discounts at participating Chamber businesses. Simply being a member of the Chamber of Commerce entitles you to use the program. Shanty's Beach & Blues Club Grand Opening - February 6th

David Wade of Shanty's Beach and Blues Club in Carolina Beach, NC announces a re-scheduled Grand Opening Celebration for Friday, February 6th, 2009 (originally scheduled for January 24th).

Wilmington Senior Softball Association is looking for players

Spring training is set to begin in March and the Wilmington Senior Softball Association is looking for both full and part time players.

Details:

• What: Wilmington Senior Softball League
• When: March 2009 - September 2009
• Where: Games are held at various locations throughout Wilmington, including Empie Park, Ogden Park, Veterans Field, and Robert Strange Park

Games are two mornings a week and are sanctioned by both ASA and the North Carolina Senior Games.

Their motto is: "We don't stop playing because we get old; we grow old because we stop playing!"

Pleasure Island Snow Day - Weather Related Announcements

A couple of announcements related to today's snowy weather (January 20, 2009):

Town of Carolina Beach Offices to Close Due to Inclement Weather

Effective at 3:00pm today, (January 20, 2009), all Carolina Beach government offices will be closed. All recreation programs scheduled for this evening have been postponed and will be rescheduled for a later date.

The Board of Adjustments meeting scheduled for this evening has also been canceled. Any delays in activity for tomorrow will be announced at a later time.

Kure Beach Town Council Meeting and Public Hearings Canceled this Evening

The Kure Beach Town Council held an emergency meeting this afternoon to discuss whether ot not to hold its regular Council meeting tonight along with its scheduled public hearings. The Town Council decided, with a vote of 4 - 1, NOT to hold the public hearings or the regular Council meeting tonight due to inclement weather and unsafe road conditions. The emergency meeting was adjourned at 2:00 p.m.

• The Kure Beach Town Hall will close at 2:00 p.m. today.
  
• The City of Wilmington government offices are closed beginning at 2:00 p.m. today.
• The New Hanover County government offices are closed beginning at 2:00 p.m. today.
