Kure Beach Boardwalk Nearing Completion

The Star News reports today that the Kure Beach Boardwalk is improving access to the beach for residents and visitors and that town officials have received recent positive response to the project.

The boardwalk project, funded through state and county grants, began construction in April this year and the final inspections are currently underway. Finishing touches are still in the works, such as landscaping and renovations of the older portion of the boardwalk just north of the Kure Beach Pier.

The new boardwalk extends from the older section and runs parallel to the beach, connecting to Atlantic Avenue, with crosswalks leading to the beach. The intent of the project was to expand public access to the beach and improve safety for people walking to and from the beach.
