Spotlight On Business: Artful Living Group

Artful Living Group, located at 112 Cape Fear Blvd, is a new kind of shopping experience. Since opening on Valentines Day this year the shop has grown to represent over 90 artists, art classes have started, and the gallery opened with First Thursday Artist Receptions.

Each first Thursday of the month a reception is held from 6:30 to 8:30 pm in the gallery with the featured artist of the month. The public is wel-come to come enjoy wine and refreshments while visiting with the artist and enjoying their work.

Art classes for a variety of fun projects are held every month such as feng shui and aroma therapy, pine needle weaving, and art therapy with mandalas.

Art Buzz – "get your art buzz on" is our latest addition. This innovative BYOB and Paint series is held every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm with a different project for each week. Participants bring their own bottle of wine or beverage and paint a fun function project, such as wine glasses and silk scarves. Private parties are available which are wonderful for family projects, date night, team building or just a gathering of friends.
Artists are often onsite either working on their projects or holding events for the public to interact with their creative processes.

Artful Living Group‘s mission is to bring unique, quality, affordable fun functional art to the public and the public to great artists. Come support our local artists.

Spotlight On Business: Shoppes at Squigley’s Ice Cream & Treats, Inc.

The oldest, 17 years, and most successful, dedicated real ice cream parlor on Pleasure Island is Squigley‘s Ice Cream & Treats. They are able to create and serve over 4,000 different flavors of real ice cream in minutes at their customers‘ request. In addition, they hand make their own waffle cones daily with a secret formula giving it a unique taste. No ice cream parlor would be complete without candy and other things for kids of all ages. Lastly, indoor and outdoor seating is available within view of the Chamber‘s weekly fireworks, hit movies and Saturday‘s Farmer‘s Markets.

Upstairs from the ice cream parlor is Squigley‘s Gift Gallery, accessible from the front deck. One-of-a-kind items are sourced from crafters, artists, jewelry makers & 24 different countries with emphasis on the USA in addition to off-shore democracies and friendly allies. Value is important so price is reduced by: buying from crafters, self-transportation saving shipping charges, and sourcing special prices, from long time suppliers. Things expensive elsewhere but not here, are under-priced in order to stay #1.

Behind the ice cream parlor is Squigley‘s Shade and Handbag Shack stocking over 1000 sunglasses for men, women and children plus 350 handbags, wallets and purses. Designer-cost-inspired items are available on everything including polarized sunglasses, readers, accessories, flip-flops, glasses holders and handbag organizers. The Shoppes at Squigley‘s are all open at noon six days a week and at 1 PM on Sundays. They close when people stop coming in, usually at 10 PM or when they faint from exhaustion.
