Spotlight on Business: Papa Murphy's

Learn a bit more about local business Papa Murphy's and what they have to offer our community. Dinner just got a lot easier!

Papa Murphy's has opened a store near you. Taste the great Pizza that everyone is talking about. A delicious hot meal doesn't take hours in the kitchen anymore. Stephanie says that once customers try this fresh way of eating pizza, they never go back to frozen or delivery. Could this be why Papa Murphy's has been voted the "Best Pizza Chain in America" for the past seven years by consumers in a national survey?

Papa Murphy's Take 'N' Bake Pizza is the perfect marriage of convenience and quality. Most people want a pizza that is as easy as a frozen or delivered pizza, but tastes as good as one ordered in a restaurant. That's one of the big advantages of a Papa Murphy's pizza - they make a product with the best ingredients; a product that customers can bake at their convenience.

Consumer surveys have repeatedly shown that adults, by a significant margin, prefer the taste of fresh pizza to frozen. In addition, any pizza will begin to deteriorate five minutes after its taken out of the oven. Many times, a delivered pizza has been out of the oven for 30 minutes or more.

There are plenty of other advantages to Papa Murphy's. Bake-at-home pizzas cost about 1/3 less than a restaurant or delivered pizza. Because Papa Murphy's doesn't equip its stores with customer seating and all kinds of additional equipment, the company can pass the savings on to its customers. Also, Papa Murphy's pizzas don't take long to cook - only about 15 minutes.

Finally, Papa Murphy's pizza is designed to compete with the finest pizzas available from any source. Fresh dough and fresh high-quality ingredients are deliciously combined to give customers 100% satisfaction.

Spotlight on Business: LAI INSURANCE AGENCY

LAI INSURANCE AGENCY is a full service independent insurance agency serving Southeastern North Carolina. LAI provides a full slate of Life and Health products, including the best annuities available today. LAI also handles the best property and casualty products for businesses and individuals.

Their Agent, Scott Betz, with his wife, Dawn, moved to Carolina Beach in 2000. Scott started an  independent insurance agency in 2004 serving homeowners and small businesses in Southeastern North Carolina. In 2008, Scott having built an agency that specialized in homeowners insurance joined his agency with LAI Insurance Agency.

Scott said: "Joining LAI allowed me access to more Insurance Companies and their products and this in turn allowed me to find even more affordable insurance for my clients, especially in the homeowner’s market. As everyone knows in Southeastern North Carolina finding homeowners, wind & hail and flood insurance is challenging to say the least and it is my mission to make sure that my homeowners have RELIABLE and AFFORDABLE insurance to protect them in the event of a claim. But, the really exciting part of becoming part of LAI was access to the incredible slate of annuities and life insurance products available to my clients. People are blown away at the return that our annuities are offering compared to their CD’s and the advantages they offer in planning for their retirement."

If you are interested in an evaluation of your current homeowner’s, renter’s, auto or commercial business
policy or just need advice concerning annuities give Scott a call at (910) 368-9523 or at www.laiinsurance.com.

Double Feature Classic Night at Free Movies at the Lake - Sunday, August 29th

The Free Movies at the Lake Series continues this weekend at the Carolina Beach Lake Park.  This week's compilation is labeled Classic Night  featuring a presentation of an award-winning documentary about Frank Capra by Chip Hagler, an Assistant Professor in the Film Studies Department at UNC-Wilmington followed by Capra's classic Mr. Deeds Goes To Town.

Two Hours In The Dark -When Capra was blindsided by the success of his comedy, It Happened One Night, which swept the 1935 Oscars, director Frank Capra became crippled with fear.  Convinced his next film would fail, he deteriorated to the brink of death - until the day a mysterious stranger appeared, changing Capra's life, and films, forever.

Mr. Deeds Goes To Town - Longfellow Deeds lives in a small town, leading a small town kind of life - including playing the tuba in the town band. When a relative dies and leaves Deeds a fortune, Longfellow picks up his tuba and moves to the big city where he becomes an instant target for everyone from the greedy opera committee to the sensationist daily newspaper. Deeds outwits them all until Babe Bennett comes along. Babe is a hot-shot reporter who figures the best way to get close to Deeds is to pose as a damsel in distress. When small-town boy meets big-city girl anything can, and does, happen.

Professor Hackler will speak and then the documentary will start around 8:00 p.m. followed by the main feature about 8:45 p.m., so bring your chairs and blankets and head out to the Lake for a great, classic  evening.  There will be concessions featuring popcorn, candy, soft drinks and more at very affordable prices.

Next week (September 5th) don't miss the final movie of the season: Up.

The Fun On Pleasure Island Doesn't End With The Summer

Sun, sand, and surf are still at the forefront of everyone's minds as we enjoy all that summer on these beautiful North Carolina beaches has to offer. But don't forget about Pleasure Island once fall rolls around!

Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher are wonderful places to visit during the fall and winter months. Come for a day, a weekend, or a week long getaway. Area hotels, condos, and vacation rental homes are often available at discounted "off season" rates making your trip extremely affordable.

Enjoy a stroll on uncrowded beaches, shop for unique holiday gifts at the boutiques and stores around the island, and grab a bite to eat at one of the many fabulous Pleasure Island restaurants. Plan your stay to coincide with one of the exciting events taking place such as the world famous Seafood, Blues, & Jazz Fest (October 9th & 10th), the Island of Lights Lighting At The Lake (November 26th), the Christmas Parade (December 3rd), the Christmas Flotilla (December 4th), or the New Year's Eve Celebration & Fireworks. Beautiful wedding at Fort Fisher, NC.
Whether the bride and groom live out of the area and plan a destination wedding, or are local and invite family and friends to join them in their picturesque hometown, a wedding on Pleasure Island is something no one will forget.
