FREE Summer Concerts at Fort Fisher Featuring SOUTHERN TROUBLE!

Don't miss this fun and free concert with country/rock group Southern Trouble! Their style is a mix of contemporary country, country rock and southern rock and is sure to get you on your feet and dancing! If you like artists like Keith Urban, Aerosmith, The Rolling Stones or Lynyrd-Skynyrd, you'll surely become a fan of Southern Trouble!

Show starts at 6:30 pm and takes place at the Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area.


ARTISTRY IN JAZZ BIG BAND CONCERT - Friday Performing Arts Night at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk

From big bands to solo acts, the Carolina Beach Arts and Activities Committee brings you a variety of live performances at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk throughout the summer! This Friday, enjoy the Artistry In Jazz Big Band Concert, featuring incredibly talented musicians as they perform a repertoire consisting of arrangements by Stan Kenton, Lennie Niehaus, Bill Holman, Gene Roland, Bill Russo, Bill Mathieu, Hank Levy and others.

CAROLINA BEACH FARMER'S MARKET

Come browse the many booths of local produce, handmade goods, arts and crafts and more at the Carolina Beach Farmer's Market! The market takes place every Saturday from May 28 to October 1, 2016 at the Carolina Beach Lake Park. Hours are 8 am to 1 pm.

Summer Movies At The Lake - RIO 2 (PG-2014)

It's a jungle out there for Blu, Jewel and their three kids after they're hurtled Rio de Janeiro to the wilds of the Amazon. As Blu tries to fit in, he goes beak-to-beak with the vengeful Nigel, and meets the most fearsome adversary of all: his father-in-law.

Starting May 29th through September 4th, vacationers as well as residents from Carolina Beach, Kure Beach and Wilmington grab their kids, blankets and beach chairs and head to the lake in Carolina Beach to enjoy a FREE Outdoor movie on a 'gigantic' screen!  Movie goers can purchase cotton candy, popcorn, candy, soft drinks and much more.  You can also bring your own food and beverages. Movies start at dusk.

LIFE ROLLS ON

Adaptive athletes, families and hundreds of volunteers come together for an epic day in the ocean. Registration has closed for participation in this event; however, visitors are welcome and encouraged to come down to Carolina Beach Access 2 to meet the athletes, participants, and volunteers and get inspired.

Don't miss this year's Summer Movies at the Lake! This free, family-friendly event will feature some great movie selections playing on our big, outdoor screen at Carolina Beach Lake Park. Movies will be shown Sundays from May 29 through September 4, 2016.

2016 Summer Movies at the Lake Schedule Announced

The Sunday Night Movies at Carolina Beach Lake are a popular, family-friendly event that both residents and visitors look forward to year after year. This year, we'll be featuring 15 different family-friendly films, including both recent releases like Inside Out, and classics like The Sandlot.

Our Sunday Night Movies will run from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. As always, the Sunday Night Movies at Carolina Beach Lake are absolutely FREE!

Free Movie at the Lake: PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE Sunday, May 24, 2015

A beloved Pleasure Island tradition is back for the 2015 summer season, and the Free Movies at the Lake gets started with PLANES: FIRE & RESCUE on Sunday, May 24th.

About the film:

PG, 2014

When world-famous air racer Dusty learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he must shift gears and is launched into the world of aerial firefighting. Dusty joins forces with veteran fire and rescue helicopter Blade Ranger and his team, a bunch of all-terrain vehicles known as The Smokejumpers. Together, the fearless team battles a massive wildfire, and Dusty learns what it takes to become a true hero.

Summer Movie Lineup!

The schedule of Movies at the Lake has been released for the summer of 2015!

Sunday evenings throughout the summer the Carolina Beach Lake is the place to be. Each week an entertaining and family friendly feature is shown on the giant inflatable screen. Sit outside under the stars, enjoying some quality time with family and friends, and the sound of the ocean just a couple of blocks away.

There's something for everyone among the outdoor movie selections for 2015. Kids will find new hits and sequels to some of their favorites, and grown ups can reminisce with remakes of classics from their own childhoods as well as share a few originals with the next generation. 

Concessions are available for purchase or you can bring a picnic. Bring beach chairs or a blanket, sit back, and enjoy the show! 

Movies start at 8:45. Arrive early for the best seating!

Whether you're in town for the weekend or the summer don't miss the experience of watching a fun, family-friendly movie under the stars in beautiful Pleasure Island. The movies are shown each Sunday evening during the summer season and begin at dusk (around 8:45).

See Disney-Pixar's Up at Free Movies at the Lake

Bring the kids or feel like a kid again watching Up, the final picture in Pleasure Island's Free Movies at the Lake Series. UP is another entertaining Disney-Pixar animated production.  By tying thousands of balloons to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip. 

 

The movie starts at 8:30 p.m., so bring your chairs and blankets and head out to the Lake for a great, Disney evening.  There will be concessions featuring popcorn, candy, soft drinks and more at very affordable prices.

Whether you are wrapping up a fun filled weekend or just getting started on a week long vacation, Sunday evenings the place to be is the Carolina Beach Lake on Pleasure Island. There, starting at dusk (around 8:45), you can take in a different movie every week - all for free!

This week's feature is The Blind Side - a heartwarming story about a homeless teenager who is taken in by a caring family. The Blind Side stars Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, and Quinton Aaron.

Bring a blanket or some chairs and relax under the stars enjoying a great movie. It is truly a unique experience - especially for those born after the end of drive in movies!
