Spotlight on Business: CMS Tool & Die, Inc.

In 2010, CMS Tool & Die, Inc. received the great honor of being named the Coastal Manufacturing Entrepreneur of the year, for the New Hanover, Pender, and Brunswick County area. This was a significant achievement for a small machine shop operating in the beach community of Pleasure Island where the majority of the businesses are tourist related.

2010 was a banner year for CMS in other ways as well. Eye surgeons at Duke Medical Center con-tacted CMS to design and manufacture a custom microscopic optical device, MMOCT, to be used during eye surgery. After multiple meetings with the surgeons, a design was manufactured that resulted in optimal performance and safety. In addition, we have been manufacturing parts for the new Starbucks Coffee Ma-chine, which will soon be seen at similar locations as the Redbox DVD vending machine.

CMS is a rapidly growing manufacturing business and continues to invest in the latest machining technology.
