Sometimes
it’s not always easy to do the right thing when it comes to doing
what’s best for the environment — like properly disposing of
household chemicals and other toxic products. It can be tempting to
pour solvents and hazardous liquids down the drain or on the ground,
or toss them in the trash, but these waste products can be harmful to
our health and to the environment if they are absorbed into the
ground or into our water supply. Fortunately, New Hanover County
Environmental Management and UNCW’s Sustainability Committee have
partnered to bring residents a more convenient way to dispose of
household hazardous waste, making it easier to do what’s right.
