12th Annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge at Carolina Beach

Are you brave enough to face the frigid waters of Carolina Beach in February? If so, you could help raise money and awareness for a very good cause next month!

The 12th Annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge, 5K Run-N-Plunge, and 1 Mile Fun Walk takes place Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Carolina Beach Boardwalk, next to the Courtyard Marriott. Contestants can choose to participate in the 5K Run-N-Plunge, a 1-mile fun walk, or just the plunge by itself.

The annual 5K Run-N-Plunge is a combination 5K run and polar plunge, where participants brave cold conditions and then dive into the cold Atlantic Ocean waters after completing a 5K winding through Carolina Beach.

This event is all about fun, so participants are encouraged to dress up and find their "inner superhero!" 

Other events to enjoy at this year's Polar Plunge include a pre-race auction, a costume contest, live music, food and of course the big plunge at the end of the race.
