Spotlight On Business - Coastal K-9 Bakery

Coastal K-9 Bakery opened for business June 2004 with a mission to offer healthy dog treats to local pets. Following much research I realized there were many, many people, other than I, that were unaware of some of the very undesirable ingredients that were included in their pet’s food and treats. Using organic and natural ingredients I offered eight delicious flavors named Tippy’s Treats. The bakery also made muffins, doggie pastries, and our most famous doggie birthday cakes, in three sizes.
As we grew we began to offer dog accessories and dog food.


During 2008, Coastal K-9 Bakery was selected as the Pleasure Island’s Chamber of Commerce’s second Emerging Entrepreneur for 2008-2009. What an honor. Then, to my surprise the Bakery was selected as a runner-up to Pet Products News’ Retailer of the Year 2008-2009. This made our year and gave me a determination to excel in the world of dog treats.

Now, eleven years later, I realize that my business direction is wholesaling Tippy’s Treats to grocery and market chains. Tippy’s Treats can be found in 74 Harris Teerter’s , 19 up-scale Lowe’s Foods, and 5 military commissaries across North Carolina. Publix Stores carry Tippy’s Treats in the Charlotte and South Carolina area. Whole Foods carry Tippy’s Treats in the South region, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Mississippi.

The bakery is located at 5941 – D Carolina Beach Road, across from Island Appliance and Harris Teeter. Open Monday – Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM for local sales and orders.
